ANIMAC 2024 SCHOOL SESSIONS BEGIN IN LA LLOTJA AND CAIXAFORUM

More than 10,000 students from educational centers in Lleida city and region will participate in person in the scheduled screenings

 On Wednesday there will be a session in Tremp with a hundred schoolchildren at the La Lira Cultural Space

 

The Animac School Sessions, the International Animated Film Festival of Catalonia, organized by the Lleida City Council, havestarted today, 12 February. This year they have an in-person format at the Teatro de La Llotja and also at CaixaForum Lleida. They are aimed at students from educational centers in Lleida, city and region, from early childhood to secondary education, with three selections of recently created short films, adapted to the different academic years. The programming of the school sessions is oriented in a cinematographic and artistic key, presenting social, educational and current content. As in other editions, Animac provides educational centers with teaching material to accompany the viewing of the animation pieces.

Until February 16, a total of 20 screenings will be held (12 in La Llotja and 8 in CaixaForum), and it is expected that 10,337 students from 38 preschool and initial cycle schools, 22 middle and higher cycle schools and 23 centers will attend. secondary school in the Lleida district. Specifically, the secondary school sessions, with 1,882 students, will be held at CaixaForum, while those for early childhood education and middle and higher education, with 8,455 attendees, will be held in La Llotja. Special education schools in the district also participate in the sessions.

In addition, in Tremp a session will be held on Wednesday, February 14 at 11:15 a.m., at the La Lira Cultural Space for a hundred students from the Maria Inmaculada School in Tremp.

The Councilor for Culture, Pilar Bosch, has highlighted the School Sessions as an activity that makes “bring art and culture to all children and young people enjoying a shared audiovisual experience, in spaces and with colleagues, since the trend is to consume content on platforms and less and less in movie theaters.”

The School Session 1 is aimed at Early Childhood Education and Early Years students (ages 4 to 7), who will be able to enjoy the short films The Goose (Czech Republic , France, 2023) directed by Jan Míka and All my colors (Spain, 2023) by the Catalans Marc Riba and Anna Solanas, and the medium-length film Tabby the Cat (Tabby McTat, UK, 2023) directed by Jac Hamman and Sarah Scrimgeour, is an animated adaptation of the book children’s by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler.

The School Session 2, for middle and upper cycle students (ages 8 to 11), has seven animation pieces with modern princesses, impossible pigs, intriguing journeys and much more. It will be screened in this session: The Swineherd (Denmark, 2023) directed by Magnus Igland Møller and Peter Smith; Attacas (France, 2023) by Hélène Ducrocq; Pig (Netherlands, 2022) by Jorn Leeuwerink; Wat zit er in die kist? (What’s Inside That Crate?) (Belgium, 2023) by Pieter Gaudesaboos and Bram Algoed; Ahru (Argentina, 2023) by Leandro Martínez, and Princeran Aubergine (Princess Aubergine) (Germany, 2023) by Dina Velikovskaya.

The School Session 3 is aimed at secondary education students (ESO, Baccalaureate and Training Cycles), with seven shorts with the best indie animation of the moment, with a good dose of creativity and humor. School Session 3 will screen: Pig (Netherlands, 2022) by Jorn Leeuwerink; The First Metahuman (China, 2023) by Yi Le; The Swineherd (Denmark, 2023) directed by Magnus Igland Møller and Peter Smith; Forza, Rea! (Switzerland, 2023) by Isabel Pahud, Isabel Clerici, Laura Zimmermann and Polina Tyrsa; The Skatebook (UK, 2022) by Sofía Negri, and Eastern (France, 2023) directed by Victor Dalmont, Mathis Dorniol, Valentine Fripier, Margaux Huvé, Marion Machelard, Maëva Mina, Iannis Oillic, Paul Pillan and Solène Poirier.
