L'ANIMAC PRESENTS THE 30TH EDITION AT CCCB WITH ALBERTO VÁZQUEZ
On Wednesday, February 11, the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB) will host the presentation of Animac 2026, the International Animation Film Festival of Catalonia, which will take place in Lleida from February 19 to 22. This event, organized every year by Animac in Barcelona, will preview the main contents of the 30th edition, under the theme “Things change.”
The session will feature the participation of Animac director Carolina López and the acclaimed director, illustrator, and comic artist Alberto Vázquez (A Coruña, 1980), known for his dark and poetic animated works. After the presentation, the feature film “Decorado” (2025) will be screened, followed by a conversation between Alberto Vázquez and Carolina López.
Animac 2026: Things change
The theme “Things change” focuses on change as a creative driving force and as a central idea in the language of animation: transformation, metamorphosis, and new ways of looking at the world. The presentation at the CCCB will outline the programming lines and highlights of the 30th edition of the Festival.

Alberto Vázquez is already a familiar and beloved face at Animac. His short and feature films, such as “Psiconautas, the Forgotten Children” (2015), “Decorado” (2015), and “Homeless Home” (2020), all screened at the Festival, have marked a turning point in Spanish animation cinema. This year, the director comes to the CCCB to talk about the creative process behind his short film “Decorado” (2015), winner of the Goya Award for Best Animated Short Film, which blends comedy, drama, and horror to address the superficiality and ironies of the contemporary world.
