Lleida is, once again, the center of international animation. Animac, the International Animation Film Festival of Catalonia, organized by Lleida City Council and held from February 21 to 24, is now in its 23rd edition, making us the most specialized festival
veteran of the Spanish State and the most successful with the public, without giving up his younger spirit.

Animac is a talent market and engine of the animation industry. It is, under the direction of Carolina López, a high-level exhibition that has in its DNA to make known the most cutting-edge animation, as well as a meeting point to transmit this knowledge to young creators. Animac is culture, with the projection of the best of world animation, conferences and other activities; Animac is education, with school sessions and workshops; Animac is also industry, with the Pro space.

For this year’s edition, the theme chosen is stop motion, photo-to-photo shooting, a technique from the beginnings of cinema but which has many creators who use it in an extraordinary way and who have been updating it and improving. Peter Lord, Mark Osborne, Chris Lavis and Maciek Szczerbowski or the unmistakable auteur label Aardman Animations will be some of the first swords to attend the 23rd edition of the Animac, which reaches the record of films presented by open call, 1,050.

The Petit Animac, Animacrea, the parallel activities, as well as the Animac Pro will complete the great offer offered by Animac 2019 which, without a doubt, reinforces Lleida’s commitment to audiovisual art, culture and our internationalization. We’re here Lleida!
