ANIMAC 2023 WILL SCREEN THE FEATURE FILM MARCEL THE SHELL WITH SHOES ON, NOMINATED FOR THE OSCAR AWARDS

Within this category, there are also the films Interdit aux chiens et aux italiens, by French director Alain Ughetto, a stop-motion feature film based on the Ughetto family, who emigrate to France to start a new life; Perlimps, by Brazilian director Alê Abreu, a story of two secret agents working for enemy kingdoms; and La otra forma, a feature film awarded at the Sitges Festival for best animated film, by Colombian director Diego Felipe, which talks about the journey of Peter Press , a man who has been living with a press for 20 years.
In these last two films it will be possible to capture the essence of this year’s edition, dedicated to the creativity of Latin American animation under the slogan “LatAm boom!”, which will be complemented by monographs, retrospectives and conferences, among other activities and proposals .
Another outstanding title is Once upon a time, a restored version of the 1950 classic that recovers its color, despite there being no copies left, and the sound that is more faithful to the original. A job that has lasted more than 7 years.
The director of Animac, Carolina López, says that “it has been an incredible year in terms of animated feature films and Animac will reflect this in its programme. In addition to the inaugural film The Island, which will be attended by its director, Anca Damian, and Perlimps, the latest work by Âle Abreu, we will also have other magnificent feature films in this edition.Marcel the Shell with Shoes On is the only independent film nominated for the awards Oscar this year.
