THE 28TH EDITION OF ANIMAC GETS MORE THAN 32,000 VIEWERS IN PERSON AND ONLINE

The International Animated Film Festival of Catalonia had 30,020 in-person visitors during the four days of the event and 2,717 views on Filmin from February 22 to March 3

The 29th edition of Animac will take place in Lleida from February 20 to 23, 2025 and the call to submit films will be open from June 10 to October 25, 2024

 

Animac, the International Animated Film Festival of Catalonia, organized by the Lleida City Council, has closed the 28th edition with 32,737 spectators, of which 30,020 have attended in format in person in Lleida (from February 15 to 18) and 2,717 have viewed Animac content online through Filmin (from February 22 to March 3), which represents an increase of 5,392 total viewers compared to 2023.

In this year’s edition of Animac, dedicated to diversity in all its aspects, a total of 179 films have been seen: 8 feature films, 4 medium-length films and 167 short films, of which 5 world premieres, 58 premieres in Spain, 32 in Catalonia and 2 international premieres. To participate in this edition, 562 films have been received in an open call from fifty countries of origin, and the 231 films presented from animation schools around the world stand out, which represents 41.1% of all films presented in an open call.

It should also be noted that this year Animac had 725 people registered for Animac Campus, almost 100 more than in the previous edition, coming from 20 animation schools and universities Aragon, Madrid, the Valencian Community and the rest of Catalonia. Also noteworthy are the 52 professional accreditations received.

As part of the school sessions, this year a total of 8,903 students from educational centres in the city of Lleida and the surrounding area attended the screenings in person at La Llotja and the CaixaForum.

In terms of Animac’s presence on social networks, the competition profiles have around 22,000 followers on the various platforms on which it is present (Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn and TikTok, new this year). The Animac website also received almost 12,000 visits from 5 to 18 February.

It must be remembered that in this 28th edition the Audience Award in the Future Talent category has gone to La gran cita de Conej (Spain, 2023) by Pablo Río, El gato Tabby (Tabby McTat) (United Kingdom, 2023) by Jac Hamman and Sarah Scrimgeour, has won the award in the Small Animac category, and Drijf (Belgium, 2023) by Levi Stoops, in the Shorts category.

 

ANIMAC 2025

The 29th edition of Animac will be held in Lleida from the 20th to the 23rd of February 2025, offering the best of animated cinema through monographic sessions and retrospectives, as well as a careful selection of short and feature films, conferences and masterclasses for all types of audiences.

In addition, from 10 June to 25 October this year, the call for the presentation of films for the next edition of Animac will be open.
