Lleida immerses itself in the Animac universe. The city offers the world of animation an exhibition that is a platform for the dissemination of the latest productions and which, at the same time, becomes a meeting point between professionals and young creators. With 21 years of history, Animac wants to continue sowing countless seeds so that animation grows and develops in our home and, with its hand, so does the cultural industry.

The power of animation on a global scale goes further. Beyond the expressive and creative potential, its ability to penetrate art, entertainment and communication is unstoppable and is increasingly present on all screens and platforms.
“Against the wind” is the motto of this year’s Animac and alludes to the great challenge it represents for today’s creators to be able to renew their gaze and how they can help us understand an increasingly complex world starting from the smallest, the most everyday.
The fundamental axes of Animac are the screenings, which will allow us to enjoy more than 650 titles for various audiences, not forgetting the children. The names of this edition are: special guest Igor Kovalyov, one of the most outstanding figures of post-Soviet animation, British animator Peter Baynton and American guitarist Benjamin Scheuer, who make video clips together, and the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award, the animator and graphic humorist Jordi Amorós.

Pedagogy plays a fundamental role, with the school sessions that will be followed by around 10,000 children, and the 7 workshops that will spread techniques and innovations in the field of animation. These take place at the Magical Audiovisual Production Center (which, since last year, has been the headquarters of the Experimental Center for Cinematography and the Audiovisual Arts of Catalonia), at the Leandre Cristòfol Municipal Art School, at the Teatre de la Llotja, in the Aula of Hospital Arnau in Vilanova, in the UdL and in the Library of Lleida.

Animac has a strong vocation to put young creators in contact with the world of industry and, in this line, continues the Networking and Pitch, which gives them the opportunity to present their work. For the second consecutive year, a conference for young professionals will take place,
organized jointly with Europa Creativa Desk – MEDIA Catalunya, which will be dedicated to script writing for new platforms. Another area of work will be Animacrea, where the main Catalan animation schools will be shown and will offer workshops so that everyone can experiment with animation.

Animac invites us to delve into the magic of a world populated by fictional characters and full of stories, environments and imagined landscapes that come to life and become real these days in Lleida.
