LITTLE ANIMAC 2022, THE PARADISE OF ANIMATION CINEMA FOR CHILDREN
The special guest of this year’s Petit Animac will be the Galician producer and director Chelo Loureiro, who will present her feature film Valentina , starring a dreamy and cheerful girl with Down syndrome

On the weekend of March 5th and 6th , the children have an appointment in Lleida with the screenings of the Petit Animac , the section of the Mostra Internacional de Cinema d’Animació de Catalunya , organized by Lleida City Council, specially designed for the little ones in the house. At La Llotja and CaixaForum Lleida , children will be able to watch five sessions of the Petit Animac with a selection of 32 animated films (27 short films, 4 short films and 1 feature film) of 19 different nationalities and a dozen of which are being released in Spain.
Also, as last year, most of the children’s programming can also be followed online, from March 4 to 13, through the Filmin platform for in the national territory, an excellent opportunity to bring Animac closer to the homes of those who cannot travel to Lleida.
And for the schools and institutes of the region of Lleida, Animac organizes once again the School Sessions , with a selection of 22 short films from around the world, which this year can be followed in hybrid format: in person at La Llotja de Lleida, from February 28 to March 4, and online through Filmin . In total, more than 9,000 children and young people will be able to enjoy these sessions.
CHELO LOUREIRO, PETIT ANIMAC 2022 SPECIAL GUEST
The Petit Animac will have a special guest this year: the director and producer of Galician animation Chelo Loureiro , who will present on March 6 at Lleida the feature film Valentina (Spain, 2021), a story of overcoming and optimism starring a girl with Down syndrome who wants to be a trapeze artist. This is Loureiro’s debut as a director, after a long career as a producer and executive producer, having produced TV series, shorts, documentaries and feature films, largely with international co-producers who have won numerous awards. and tour festivals around the world.
Chelo Loureiro is currently producing the award-winning animated film Alberto Vázquez , Unicorn Wars , which will also be present in this edition of Animac with a work in progress where he will explain the process of creating the film, and which won the Goya Award for best animated short film with Decorado (2016), also produced by this year’s Petit Animac special guest.
In addition, Loureiro is in the pre-production phase of the feature films of Isabel Herguera (who was the director of Animac from 2003 to 2011), El sueño de la sultana , and sisters Sonia and Miriam Albert, Melita .

The screenings of the Petit Animac will take place at La Llotja and CaixaForum Lleida.
In addition to the feature film Valentina , which will be screened in the session Petit Animac 5 , on March 6 in at 12.30 pm at La Llotja, children visiting Animac will be able to enjoy four more children’s sessions, with some thirty short and newly created short films from all over the world.

As in other editions, three School Sessions will be scheduled with a selection of 22 animated short films adapted to the different academic years: a session for students in Early Childhood Education and Initial Cycle (from 3 to 7 years ), with eight extraordinary stories; a session for those in the middle and upper cycle (from 8 to 11 years old), with eight shorts where the imagination is the protagonist, and another for those in secondary education (ESO, Baccalaureate and Vocational Training), with six shorts with stories of the multiverse.
Among the short films selected in the School Sessions is Paul Mas, nominated for the César Awards of the French Academy.
More than 6,400 students from 42 schools and 12 are expected to attend the Face-to-Face School Sessions at La Llotja from February 28 to March 4. institutes of Lleida city and province.
As for the Online School Sessions , more than 3,000 students from 22 schools and 5 high schools in the Lleida region will take part.
