Animac presents the 2024 edition at the CCCB with Georges Schwizgebel

january 24th 2024

Animac presents the program for the 2024 edition on February 6 at the CCCB and invites Georges Schwizgebel, Swiss animator and leading figure in contemporary animation, who will share his work and his creative process.

Animac presents in Barcelona the new features and contents of the 28th International Animation Film Festival of Catalonia, which is will be held in Lleida from 15 to 18 February, this year with the slogan “Diversity”.

The festival’s director, Carolina López, will speak at the meeting, accompanied by the Swiss animator Georges Schwizgebel, Animac 2022 honorary prize winner and one of the great masters of European animation. An artisan of fluidity, he has found imaginative solutions to make calculated visual games and transitions between scenes, using camera movements that are physically impossible without the art of animation. This original and virtuoso style of narrating and animating through varied and plastic techniques has made him a benchmark in international animation.

His work combines hand drawing and acrylic painting on acetate with a strong experimental and colorful intention, heir to the post-impressionist artistic movements. Schwizgebel will share with us the keys to his career of more than 50 years as a director and animator and also his creative process with materials from his works, including the most recent D’une peinture… à l’ autre; which can be seen in this 28th edition.
