Emma De Swaef

Two talents, Marc James Roels as director of fiction shorts (Mompelaar, 2007, and A Gentle Creature, 2010), and Emma De Swaef, as a specialist in stop motion and creator of original woollen and felt dolls, came together, resulting in a new and unique way of making stop motion. An unsettling calm, in which naturalistic settings alternate with surreal images that recall classical cinema: Oh Willy…, winner of 80 international awards, and Ce magnifique gâteau!, premiered at the Cannes Quinzenaine des Réalisateurs, along with the recently premiered episode one of the anthology The House, produced by Nexus studios for Netflix, make up all their films to date, enough to be in the Olympus of contemporary animation.
